When we're tempted to let our emotions get the best of us that's when we need to double up on the time we spend in the Word. When our thoughts are straying away from the promises of God then we need to make a decision to keep them before our eyes and in our heart. "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh." Proverbs 4:20-23 The Word of God is life and health to us. But we have to attend to them. We have to listen to them. We have to keep them in front of our eyes and in the midst of our heart. We don't always think about doing that when we're feeling down. When we are discouraged we don't want to spend any energy doing anything. But this is when we need to do it the most! I like to remind myself of what Jesus has done. I like to remember the covenant He's provided me with. It says in Ephesians 2:6 that we've been raised up and made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. It says in Romans 8:17 that we are His children and that we're heirs of God and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ. Joint heirs with Jesus! What an awesome God He is. We are seated together now in heavenly places. We have already been made joint-heirs with Him. We will not only benefit from this when we get to Heaven but we will benefit from this while we are here on the earth! Let the joy of what Jesus has done for you well up inside of you. For that joy is your strength, (Nehemiah 8:10). Jesus said: "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33 Jesus told us what He told us so that we could have peace in Him. The Word of God will bring peace to us. Yes there will be trouble in the world but He says to be of good cheer! That means to draw from the joy we have as a fruit of the Spirit. Be of good cheer He has overcome the world. Why does He tell us to be happy about the fact that He's overcome the world? Because if He's overcome the world then that means that He was able to enter mankind into this new covenant with God and that means that as we believe in Him we become partakers of this new covenant. And the provisions of this covenant provide for our healing, our finances, our peace, our freedom from any of the bondages the devil would try and bring. That's something to get excited about! Don't let the devil rob you of your joy. Resist him steadfast in the faith, he's got to go! (1 Peter 5:9,James 4:7).
God Bless you and have a great day!
