Relationships O.K.

"A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly:..."  Proverbs 18;24

People don't really like to be around mean people.  This verse tells us if we want to have friends then we need to be friendly.  It's a lot to expect out of people to put up with you if you're always critical, always complaining, or always demanding things be done your way.  If you want people to enjoy being around you then you need to be friendly.  Sometimes  relationships can get to a point where they fall into a routine of taking each other for granted.  You may not go the extra mile to be friendly to a person once you feel there's a commitment there between you.  But just as a garden requires attention in order to continue to blossom beautiful flowers so does a relationship require attention.

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."  Galatians 6:7

You will get out of a relationship what you put into it.  As you continue to plant seeds of love, kindness, and goodness into your relationships then you are preparing the way for a beautiful relationship.  As you continue to cultivate those seeds then you will reap a bountiful harvest.

"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."  Philippians 2:3

It's important not to plant seeds of selfishness in your relationships.  It's vital that you keep strife and conceit out of your heart.  This verse tells us to esteem each other better than ourselves.  That means that you treat the other person better than you would yourself.  I heard a man who had been happily married for many many years say as an example of this that he always gave his wife the bigger or better piece of pie.  When you get out of the rut of thinking that other people owe you something and when you get away from making demands on others then you will be much happier and much more appreciative of the good things they do for you.

Remember that you are not responsible for, nor can you control, other people's behavior.  But you are responsible for and you can control your own behavior!  Take the initiative to plant some good seed and watch your relationship flourish with the love of God!

God Bless you and have a great day!
