"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty "

In
America, voting is only part of our responsibility as Christians.
It's also vital for Americans to make it a practice to continue to pray for our
leaders. Whether or not we agree with them or voted for them
we need to uphold them in prayer. Christians need to unite in prayer
and not think that just because we have voted we've done our whole
duty. |

We can mistakenly put too much responsibility for our happiness on our leaders. If you get frustrated with your life it's easy to look for someone to blame, and blame is often focused in their direction. But when you keep your faith rightly placed in God you can avoid the frustration and disappointment that misplaced blame brings. If you are angry, get rid of the anger first so you can pray for your leaders sincerely. As long as you're angry at them or critical of them you won't be able to pray for them with a proper motivation. Notice that this scripture in 1 Timothy tells us that we're not just to pray and petition Heaven on their behalf but we're to thank God on their behalf as well! A thankful heart begins with a trust in God--not just people--to take care of you! Remember
to continue to keep your leaders in prayer! |
