April 12 12: Brethren, I beg of you, become as I am [free from the bondage of Jewish ritualism and ordinances]; for I also have become as you are [a Gentile]. You did me no wrong [in those days, do not do it now]. Amplified Bible The Galatians had received salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. But apparently there were those influencing them to also keep the Old Testament law, thus saying that faith in Jesus Christ alone is not enough to save us. Paul tells them that there is nothing else but faith in Jesus Christ that will save us. He says to ‘become as I am for I have become as you are.’ There is no need to keep the Old Testament law because it is fulfilled by faith in Jesus Christ alone. Paul was Jewish and came out from under Jewish ritualism and ordinance by faith in Christ alone. Now he encourages them, (& us), to stick to faith in Jesus alone for salvation and not listen to those who say they have to be circumcised and keep certain parts of the Old Testament law in order to be saved.
Confession: I realize that faith in Jesus Christ alone is the only thing necessary for salvation. I can not earn salvation by keeping any sort of religious laws, rituals and ordinances.
Obedience is a tree of life!
