Worthy of the Call
Ephesians 4:1-3

 

1: I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2: With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3: Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

We are not worthy in ourselves to receive the kind of life Jesus has provided for us.  But because of what Jesus did for us the life of God is available to us.  And in that life is more than we could ever imagine (see Ephesians 3:20).  So he says here to walk worthy of the vocation or the divine calling to which we’ve been called and then he goes on to say how to do that in verses 2 and 3.

Basically with humility, meekness (unselfishness and gentleness), patience, forgiveness and unity.  We all have been called to live the life that God has purchased for us which is a life of victory, peace and freedom from bondage.  He did not exclude anyone when He paid for us to receive this kind of life.

Now that He’s provided it for us we can walk worthy of it.  We can live with these characteristics-the fruit of the Spirit-in our lives because we can receive His life which is His nature and His characteristics within us.

 

Confession:

I receive the life of God within me.  Thank You Jesus for providing this life for me.  I can and will walk worthy of the divine calling to which I’ve been called.   I will live with the fruits of the Spirit-the characteristics of God-leading my life.

Obedience is a tree of life!
