22: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23: And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24: And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

We’re told to put off our old man, our old nature that is corrupt; to be renewed in our minds and then to put on the new man which is created in God’s image—righteousness and true holiness.

It’s not enough to try and quit yielding to the old corrupt habits we’ve had.   We have to also continue to renew our minds and yield to the new man.  Our new nature given to us by the Spirit of God is created in God’s image.  Our new nature is righteous and holy.  We don’t have to try and make ourselves become anything.  We just have to "put off" and "put on".

We don’t have to struggle against sin.  Just yield to the new nature within us.  Although your flesh will be struggling with it and will fight against you at times.  But thank God we overcome by the life of God within us!
