April 27 Ephesians 4:29 29: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Do you realize how much more we would think about what we say if we always did what this says here? To first of all not speak anything corrupt or evil but to instead speak what is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others (Amplified Bible). How often are we really looking to say things for the spiritual benefit of others? Its easy to want to talk about ourselves, our family, our jobs, our ministry, our needs etc... and sometimes we can share what God is doing in our lives and it will benefit others spiritually. We can testify to the good that God has done for us and others will be blessed by that. But we can go on too much and not look to see what the person were talking to really needs for their own spiritual growth. God moves through love and as we care about benefiting others with our words we will see Him meet our needs in our lives and the lives of those around us.
Confession: I will not speak evil. I will look to benefit others spiritually with my words. I will be sensitive to the Spirit of God and other peoples needs so my words will be a blessing instead of a curse.
Obedience is a tree of life!
