April 4
1: We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. What does it mean to receive the grace of God in vain? The Amplified Bible says: 1: (As Gods fellow workers) laboring together with Him then, we beg of you not to receive the grace of God in vainthat merciful kindness by which God exerts His holy influence on souls and turns them to Christ, keeping and strengthening them, do not receive it to no purpose. Dont receive it for no purpose. We can take it to mean, dont receive His grace and mercy and forgiveness and then let it fall by the wayside, abandoning our faith in Him. We can take it as not letting go of Him and the salvation weve received. The verses prior to this talk of how we are new creatures in Christ. That we all should live for Him who died and rose again for us all. We also have been given the ministry of reconciliation. Weve been made ambassadors for Christ. We have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. So we can also say we need to fulfil that which He has called us to do in reaching others for the Lord. To not only receive this grace for ourselves but to reconcile others to Him as well. To be His ambassador is to be a good steward of His grace.
Confession: I will not receive the grace of God in vain. There is a purpose for me receiving His grace and I will not allow that purpose to go unfilled.
Obedience is a tree of life!
