Sound Doctrine
Titus 2:1

  1. But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. (New American Standard).

There has been much emphasis in Paul’s epistles to Timothy and to Titus about sound doctrine.  It’s so vitally important for Christians to be solid in their understanding of the Word of God.  And it’s especially true for those in leadership and teaching position in the church as these letters state.

Without having a doctrine that is sound or a healthy and uncorrupt view of the Word of God we will not be able to accurately apply the Word of God to our lives and we will get ourselves into trouble.

Without the knowledge and love for the Truth the door is open for deception which leads people off into dangerous error.  We need to endeavor to have a solid foundation in our Christian walk with the Lord by having a correct understanding of the Word.

The only way to do that is to spend much time ourselves saturating ourselves in the Word.  Not just reading a verse here or there (although that’s better than nothing), or just listening to the preacher on Sunday, but daily reading, prayerfully studying and meditating on the Word of God for ourselves so we will recognize error when we hear it.

Confession:

I will speak things that are fitting for sound doctrine.  I will spend much time in the Word for myself so I will know and understand God’s Word correctly.
