Remember We Can
Titus 3:1-2

  1. Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
  2. To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men.

He says to remind people to be submissive to authorities, to be prepared for every good work, not to slander anyone, not to be a brawler, but to be gentle and show courtesy toward everyone.

He goes on to say that all of us were at times foolish, disobedient, deceived and serving sin but by the kindness and love of God and by His mercy which He poured out on us through Jesus Christ, we are justified and made heirs with Him (verses 3-7).

So because of the work that has been done in us by the cleansing of the blood of Jesus Christ we are able to do the things He says in these scriptures.  It’s not by our own works of righteousness that we are saved but it’s by the righteousness of Jesus Christ, by the cleansing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit.

As a result of the work He does in us as we believe in Him we are able to have this attitude of submissiveness, readiness, gentleness and kindness and we’re able to overcome attitudes of rebellion, we’re able to control the words of our mouth and our actions.

Confession:

Because of the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ and the renewing of the Holy Spirit I will be submissive to authorities, prepared for every good work and gentle and kind toward everyone.  I’ll not slander anyone and I’ll not fight or argue.  I am able to do this because of the righteousness given to me through faith in Jesus Christ.

Obedience is a tree of life!
