Don’t Let Them Slip
Hebrews 2:1

  1. Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

We should give ‘the more earnest heed’ or pay much closer attention to the things we’ve heard.  We need to pay close attention to the truth’s we’ve learned from the Word of God so we don’t drift away from it.

Pay attention, stay awake and stay focused.  It must be a continual thing because we can very subtly start to let truths slip away from us if we’re not watching it.  We need to keep the Word of God alive and fresh to us.  We need to guard against becoming ritualistic and works motivated.  We need to realize there are depths in the Word of God and facets of His personality that we have yet to discover.

We should not become comfortable and content with the level of knowledge we have with God today.  If we’ve been intimate with Him does that mean we should never seek intimacy again?  No, we should pay close attention to Him and not neglect what we’ve heard.

Confession:

I will pay close attention to the truth’s I’ve heard from the Word of God.  I’ll not drift away or let them slip away from me.  I realize the Word of God is fresh and applicable to my life every day.

Obedience is a tree of life!
