Endure for the Lord
2 Timothy 2:3-8

  1. Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
  2. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.
  3. And also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.
  4. The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops.
  5. Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.
  6. Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, (New American Standard).

Paul is giving encouragement to stay focused and not give up.  When things get tough and difficult times come—stick with it.  As a soldier would, stay focused, don’t get distracted.  As an athlete would, stick to the rules.  And as a farmer, you will be the first to partake of the fruits of your hard work and diligence.

Consider all this, think about it and remember that Jesus was raised from the dead.  It may seem difficult at times but if we remain diligent and stick with Him and stick with the Word of God through hard times it will pay off.  We will be the first partaker of the fruits of our hard work.  Remember that Jesus rose.  He may have suffered and died, but He did rise again!  It will be worth it for us as well if we stick with it!

Confession:

I will endure all things as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.  I will not be distracted, I will stick to the rules—the Word of God.  And I will partake of the fruits of my hard work.  Thank-You Jesus for setting an example for me!
