Present Yourself Approved
2 Timothy 2:15-16

We are to give diligence to present ourselves approved to God as a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed.  This is evident as we rightly divide the Word of Truth.  In other words, we accurately handle the Word of God.  We don’t misunderstand or misinterpret it.  We don’t use it to justify our own beliefs.  But rather we submit ourselves to the Word and give diligence to accurately understand God’s intents and purposes and to accurately apply the Word of God to our lives.

We’re to stick to the Word and avoid profane and vain talk, which does not profit us it just leads into further ungodliness.  We’re to avoid discussions which have no basis for fact.  It takes diligence to put the Word of God first in our lives and to stick to it.  It takes effort on our part not to let worldly talk and speculations distract us from the Word of God.  It takes tuning in to the Spirit of God to learn to apply the Word to situations that arise throughout the day.  But thank God we can be successful at it or He wouldn’t have told us to do it!

Confession:

I will give diligence to present myself approved unto God.  I will be diligent to correctly understand His Word and correctly apply it to my life.  I will avoid vain talk and not allow it to distract me from the Word of God.
