December 1 1 Peter 5:6
The world often has the attitude that one should promote himself, boast about his gifts, talents and accomplishments, and strive to get to the top no matter who he steps on to get there. This is not God’s attitude. He says to humble yourselves under His mighty hand that He may exalt you at the proper time. There’s a time to be promoted and a time to be humble. As a Christian, the time to be humble is all the time. The time to be promoted is when God does it. And when you are promoted that doesn't mean you quit being humble! Humility is one of the greatest traits Jesus gave us as an example to follow. The way of the Kingdom is rooted in humility and love. To humble yourself under the mighty hand of God means that you will live your life the way Jesus taught and you will follow His example. You won't try to exalt yourself or seek your own glory, but all that you do will be to build the Kingdom of God. Jesus spoke of taking the lower seat when called to a wedding and letting them call you up to a higher place. Rather than sitting in the higher place and becoming embarrassed at being asked to sit in a lower place (Luke 14:7). When you try and promote or exalt yourself you may end up embarrassed, but when God promotes you it will be an honor.
Confession: I will humble myself under the mighty hand of God that He may promote me at the proper time. I will not try and exalt or promote myself.
Obedience is a tree of life!
