24. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning.  If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

John says to let that which you have heard from the beginning abide in you.  Back in verse 7 he says, "..the old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning."  The Word is what we first hear when we are born-again.  The Word is ‘that which we have heard from the beginning.’

We put faith in the Word of God that was spoken to us and we became a child of God.  We are to let that Word continue to abide and remain in us.  If we do then we will also continue in the Son and in the Father.

No matter how long we walk with the Lord we must always keep the Word of God abiding in us and not depart from the teachings of the truth.

Confession:

I will let the Word of God abide and remain in me.  I will continue to grow more and more in line with the truth of God’s Word.
