No Other gods
1 John 5:21
  1. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
  1. Little children, keep yourselves from idols—false gods, [from anything and everything that would occupy the place in your heart due to God, from any sort of substitute for Him that would take first place in your life].  Amen, So let it be.  The Amplified Bible

A false god would be something a person worships other than the true God.  We’re not to worship any ‘god’ besides the one true God.  There is no ‘sun god’ or ‘moon god’ or any statue or image that is the true ‘god.’  God in Heaven who created all things and who sent Jesus Christ to die for the sin of mankind is the only true God.

We’re to keep ourselves from idols, from false gods.  Every idol is a false god because it’s a deception.  It’s not really a god.  It’s a fake. It’s based on lies and deception.  As the Amplified Bible says, an idol could be anything that would take first place in our heart where God should be.  It may not just be something someone calls a ‘god.’  It could be anything.

We need to be watchful that we keep the one and only true God first in our hearts where He rightfully belongs.

 

Confession:

Father God, Creator of all things, I love You and give You first place in my life.  I will have no other gods before You.  I will have no other gods period.

Obedience is a tree of life!
