December 3 1 Peter 5:8
The devil is your enemy. And it says here that he walks around as a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. There is no good thing that comes from the devil. He comes to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). He comes to oppress (Acts 10:38). He will devour those that he can. He’s seeking someone to devour. You need to be aware of this and not ignore the fact that you have an enemy who is trying to destroy you. But on the other hand, you don’t have to be afraid of him because Jesus defeated him for you (Colossians 2:15, Hebrews 2:14). Jesus triumphed over him and He has given you authority over the devil in the earth (Luke 10:19, Mark 16:17-18, Ephesians 6:10-12). He tells us to be sober and vigilant. You need to be alert and watchful so you don’t allow the devil any place. It's not that you ignore or fear him, but you need to be aware of his intentions so you can deal with him correctly. And the next verse tells you how to do that.
Confession: I will remain aware and alert spiritually. I realize the devil is my enemy and is seeking those to devour, but Jesus has triumphed over him so I can live victoriously!
Obedience is a tree of life!
