Glorifying God in body and spirit
1 Corinthians 6:18-20

 

18: Flee fornication.  Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19: What?  know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20: For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
 

Fornication is sex between two people not married to each other.  He makes special mention of the fact that this type of sin is harmful to your own body.  In the preceding verses he talks about how if you join to a prostitute then you become one because the Lord said, "The two shall become one flesh."  (However, fornication is not only sinful when it involves a prostitute, it is sinful when it is done between any two people who are unmarried).  There is a connection made that is only meant to be made in a marriage relationship.  

As a believer, your body is a temple of God.  A home for the presence of Almighty God.   You have been bought with a price.  Jesus’ blood was shed for you and as a result you have the opportunity and the privilege of glorifying God in your body and in your spirit which belong to Him.

 

Confession:

I will abstain from fornication.  I will make it my practice to follow God’s Word concerning sex.   Sex outside of marriage is a sin and I will not participate in it.  My body is a temple of God.  I will glorify God in my body and in my spirit which belongs to Him.

Obedience is a tree of life!
