January 11
The gift of exhortation is to implore or to make an appeal humbly. To urgently plead or even beg. It also means to comfort, cheer and console. It means to call near and to invite. This gift is a passionate, maybe even dramatic appeal to invite others to respond to the Lord. It seems this is one of the more "emotional" gifts (If we can use that term for something that is spiritual). This gift will exhort or make an appeal using whatever means possible to get people’s attention and to drive a point home. People who are motivated to exhort people may enjoy working side by side with others and exhorting people in a more practical way. Whatever invitation the Lord is making–salvation or any other invitation to believe His Word and respond to Him in faith– this gift will make it clear that the invitation is there and that now is the time to respond.
Confession: The gift of exhortation is a God-given gift in the body of Christ. I will respond to the appeals of the Lord given through this gift.
Obedience is a tree of life!
