Whosoever Will
Romans 11:18-20

  1. Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
  2. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
  3. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

Don’t boast against the branches.  Paul is talking to them about not thinking they were better then the Jews, who were the original "branches" in the tree.  Meaning they were God’s people when Jesus came.  God by His grace and mercy extended His salvation to everyone.  Many of the Jewish people did not accept Him as Messiah and apparently some Gentiles who had accepted Jesus were putting down the Jewish people who wouldn’t accept Jesus.

Paul is warning against that kind of attitude here.  Salvation is now by faith, not by ancestry.  But God still desires for everyone-Jew and Gentile- to be grafted into His tree and enjoy relationship with Him.  He doesn’t exclude anyone and we shouldn’t either.

Confession:

I thank God for my salvation.  God freely offers it to whoever will believe.   He doesn’t exclude anyone and I won’t either.

Obedience is a tree of life!
