We all have gifts that differ from each other’s. You operate in those gifts according to the proportion of faith and grace given to you. As a believer in Christ, you are a part of His body in the earth and are to function in the area God has equipped you to. These gifts listed here in Romans 12 are gifts that give you your perspective and your motivation. You will find that some of these gifts will be more pronounced in your life than others. But as we all function in the gifts we’ve been given individually, the body of Christ will function as a whole in a way that will glorify God and bring His Kingdom to the earth. According to Strong’s Concordance, this word prophecy in the Greek means prophecy and prediction. It carries both ideas of a prophet or fore-teller and an inspired speaker and poet. In any sense, this gift of prophecy is a God- inspired motivational gift that gives insight into the mind of God and His plans for His people. It’s different from the office of a Prophet. But those in the office of a Prophet may very well have this gift. Those who have this gift are perceptive to the plans and purposes of God. They will always be looking for God’s viewpoint and will have insight into the heart of God. As they receive this insight they reveal God’s intents and plans and in so doing put God’s will and purposes out there for others to grab hold of.
Confession: God by His grace has given me gifts. By faith I will walk in the gifts He’s equipped me with. The gift of prophecy is a God-given gift in the body of Christ. I receive from those with this gift and grab hold of the intentions of God by faith in order for them to become a reality in my life.
Obedience is a tree of life!
