Ministry
Romans 12:7

7.
Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering:...

The word ministry according to Strong’s Concordance means, aid, official service (such as teacher or deacon).  It comes from a word meaning, attendant, waiter, teacher and pastor, more specifically a deacon or deaconess.  It’s a gift of service in various senses.

It’s the same word Paul used in 1 Timothy 1:12, which says, "And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;"  It’s also used in Acts 6:4, "But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."  And in 1 Corinthians 16:15, ": I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)."  So we see it’s used in the sense of serving others, even when it’s used to refer to the ministry of the Word.

In Romans 12:7, the Amplified Bible uses "practical service" instead of "ministry."  Those with this gift tend to the practical service of the saints.  They will wait or attend to people in practical ways.  The motivation of these people is to be hospitable and they enjoy serving others.

It says here to ‘wait on our ministry.’  To wait means to expect fully, to look and wait for.  The Amplified Bible says to "let him give himself to serving."  If this is your motivation, you can expect God will use you in this area as you give yourself to the specific area of service you are called to.

Confession:

The gift of ministry or serving is a God-given gift in the body of Christ.  I thank God for this gift and receive from and appreciate the gifts of service God has set before me.

Obedience is a tree of life!
