Abstain From Evil
1 Thessalonians 5:22

Some translations say, "every form of evil." Whatever kind of evil it is, we are to abstain from it. We are to refrain and keep ourselves away from all evil.

Notice he tells us to do this. God is not going to do this for us. He will help us, and He has helped us by putting His life and nature in us and by giving us His Holy Spirit to strengthen us. He’s helped us by giving us His Word to live by and to overcome with but ultimately it’s up to us to make the decision and determination to keep away from evil.

We must yield to the desire in our heart that wants to stay away from evil rather than yield to the desires of our flesh that want to do evil. And thank God that as we desire to abstain from evil, from the very appearance of it, we have the strength to do so!



Confession:

I desire to abstain from all evil. My desire is to please my Heavenly Father and not to get involved in any form of evil. I desire to get as close to My Father as I can, not to see how much sin I can get away with.
