Pray for those in authority
1 Timothy 2:1-2

  1. I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
  2. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

It is our responsibility as Christians to pray for "all men" and especially for our leaders and all those that are in authority.  The reason he gives here is so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life.  So we can live godly lives without interference from those in authority.  This is important!

We need to pray that the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not hindered.  That our living according to the Word of God is not interfered with.  We need to pray for those in authority in our country so we have the freedom to be obedient to God without governmental interference.

God desires for everyone to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (verse 4).  Through our prayers and through the preaching of the Word everyone—our leaders and others—can come to accept Jesus Christ as Lord.

Confession:

I will pray for those in authority so that we may live a quiet, peaceable and godly life.  So that the Gospel is freely preached and so many, including our leaders, will come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Obedience is a tree of life!
