Accusations Against Leadership
1 Timothy 5:19-21

  1. Listen to no accusation preferred [before a judge] against an elder except it be confirmed by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
  2. As for those who are guilty and persist in sin, rebuke and admonish them in the presence of all, so that the rest may be warned and stand in wholesome awe and fear.
  3. I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the chosen angels, that you guard and keep [these rules] without personal prejudice or favor, doing nothing from partiality.  (Amplified Bible)

The Elders God places in the church are to serve as examples and lead the church.  For this reason, we should not be quick to believe accusations made against them.  Only with 2 or 3 witnesses are we to then receive an accusation against an elder.

Then if they persist and continue in sin after being corrected, they are to be rebuked or admonished publicly so others are warned as well.

We are not to tolerate persistent sin from some and not from others.  We are to be consistent in our dealings with situations like these.

Sin is a deception and a trap that will lead people away from God and into hell.  We are not the judges of sin.  The Word of God is the judge as to what is considered sin.  If we tolerate sinful behavior from some leaders and not from others we are deceiving people into thinking sometimes sin is O.K.

God is merciful and we are to be merciful but we are to deal with sin as He says to, not how we think it should be dealt with.

Confession:

I will respect those in the church God has placed in leadership position.  I will not be quick to believe accusations against them.  I also will not condone persistent sin and will abide by the principals the Word of God gives in dealing with it.
