Unhindered Preaching
2 Thessalonians 3:1-2

 

  1. Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
  2. And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

One thing we should be concerned about and pray about after we’ve received the Word of God and are saved is for other’s salvation.  He’s not asking here for them to pray for God to save people.  God has provided for that already by sending Jesus.  But he asks for them to pray for them that the Word of the Lord may have free course, that the Word of the Lord be glorified.  The Amplified adds ‘and triumph’.

He asks for their prayer that they be delivered from unreasonable (improper), and wicked men.  We need to pray for those who are preaching the Word.  We need to support in prayer those who go out and reach others with the Word of God.  We need to pray that the Word is not hindered, that it has it’s way and that it is glorified in people’s lives.

People can’t believe without hearing the Word of God.  They need to hear the Word and put faith in it in order to be saved.

 

Confession:

I pray for those who are preaching the Word of God to others.  I pray that the Word of God has free course, that it go out unhindered and be glorified in people’s lives.  That unreasonable and wicked men are not able to stop or hinder or harass the preaching of the Word of God.
