July 8 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15
Again Paul says not to associate with those in the church who refuse to abide by what he’s written. That would be those in the church who say they are believers yet do not abide by the Word of God. We’re told not to ‘keep company’ or associate with them. This doesn’t mean you consider them your enemy. But it means you admonish or lovingly warn him as a fellow Christian. If I were walking towards the edge of a cliff I would hope someone would care enough to tell me not to go that way. In the same way we need to warn our brothers and sisters when they are heading into dangerous territory by not obeying the Word of God. But if they refuse to listen, don’t walk with them or you’ll end up going off the cliff too!
Confession: I will not keep company with those who are not abiding by the Word of God. I will not walk with them and go in the direction they are going. But I will gently warn them of the consequences of continuing in the direction they are going. I will also be open to others if they are bringing correction through the Word to my life.
Obedience is a tree of life!
