A Servant’s Heart
Colossians 3:22-25

  1. Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God.
  2. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
  3. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
  4. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

He’s talking about the servants attitude toward their masters and towards their jobs.  You can apply this to employer / employee relationships as we’ve said before.

Anyone who has a master or ‘boss’ over them can see the attitude God would desire them to have toward them and toward our work by these verses.

Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord, not as unto men.  When you do your job with the attitude that the Lord Jesus is your boss and you are serving Him your work takes on a whole new meaning.  You can do that knowing He will reward you.

As you have a servant’s heart not trying to promote or exalt yourself but just serve Him you are pleasing the Lord and you are serving Him on your job.

Confession:

Whatever work is set before me to do I do it as unto the Lord.  I know it’s Him that I am actually serving and will receive the reward of inheritance from Him.  He is the true supplier of my needs, not my boss or my job!

Obedience is a tree of life!
