A Home for God
1 Thessalonians 4:3-4

  1. For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated—separated and set apart for pure and holy living: that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice;
  2. That each one of you should know how to possess [control, manage] his own body (in purity, separated from things profane, and) in consecration and honor, (Amplified Bible)

Having control over the lusts of our flesh is a huge part of living pleasing to the Lord and also being able to hear from Him clearly and carry His presence with us.  If we give in to the lusts of our flesh and are not determined to separate ourselves from those things that are not pleasing to the Lord then we’re heeding the voice of our flesh and the voice of the Spirit becomes dulled.

To hear the voice of God we need to put down the voice of our flesh.  As we separate ourselves from fleshly lusts and desires we are possessing our bodies in consecration and honor.  We are preparing ourselves for the presence of God.

By making our lives a place where God can feel comfortable we are welcoming Him and inviting Him into our lives and we will see more of His presence, His power and His glory with us on a day to day basis.

Confession:

I set apart myself for pure and holy living.  I abstain from sexual sins and fleshly lusts.  I determine for my life to be a place where the presence of God is at home.  A place where God feels comfortable, welcomed and invited.  I can do so because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Father God, make Your home in me.

Obedience is a tree of life!
