Tending to our own Business
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

  1. To make it your ambition and definitely endeavor to live quietly and peacefully, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we charged you;
  2. So that you may bear yourselves becomingly, be correct and honorable and command the respect of the outside world, being (self-supporting) depending on nobody and having need of nothing. (Amplified Bible)

The King James says to ‘study to be quiet’.  We’re encouraged to mind our own business, to work to do what we need to do to take care of our own affairs so that the world sees that we are a people who are not dependent on them but rather God has enabled us to have our own needs met.

The Lord wants us to have our needs met, our bills paid and for us to live a peaceable life without lack.  He wants there to be a stability to our lives that is a testimony to the world that God takes care of His people.

He wants His people to be the head and not the tail.  He wants His people to be a source.  Not for people to rely on us but for us to lead people to the True Source.  For He is the source of all life and all good things and He lives in us!

Confession:

I will endeavor to live quietly and peacefully.  I will tend to my own affairs and work at what the Lord has called me to do.  As a result it will be evident that God is my source of supply and meets all my needs.

Obedience is a tree of life!
