Word Seeds
Colossians 3:8-9

  1. But now put away and rid yourselves [completely] of all these things: anger, rage, bad feeling toward others, curses and slander and foulmouthed abuse and shameful utterances from your lips!
  2. Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices,

Not only do we need to kill our ungodly fleshly impulses, desires and cravings, but we also need to get rid of anger, rage and ungodly words.  Our words are very important.  We don’t always realize the affect our words have on people because we don’t (necessarily) see the results right away.  Words are seeds that we plant in people’s lives.  Words spoken from a heart of anger or rage or with any bad feelings towards anyone are bad seeds that will produce bad fruit if brought to fruition (And who eats of that fruit, not the person in whose heart the seed was planted but those around him, like you!).

The old man has been put away from us and we need to keep it away.  We’ve put on the new man which is renewed in knowledge after the image of God. Let’s keep him on.

Confession:

I put off the old man.  I put off speaking evil.  I will use my words to edify, build up and advance God’s Kingdom.

Obedience is a tree of life!
