June 5 Colossians 3:14
14: And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Above all these things. Love is the most important of all. The love of God is the ‘bond of perfectness’. The Amplified Bible says it "binds everything together completely in ideal harmony." The love of God not only binds us together so we can function smoothly, but it also is a sign of perfection or maturity. The best way to measure your growth and maturity as a Christian is by your love towards others. A person who is aggravated at others because others don’t recognize and appreciate his spiritual gifts and growth is not walking in love and really is not a mature Christian at all. Love doesn’t promote or exalt itself. As we ‘put on’ this love and yield to the love of God that’s been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5), then God considers us to be walking in maturity and perfection.
