1: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
2: Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

Paul says to be followers of him or follow his example, even as he follows Christ.  He commends them for remembering and keeping the instruction he had given them earlier.

Paul’s instructions and teachings were inspired by the Holy Spirit.  By keeping his instructions they were keeping the Word of God.  He says to follow him as he follows Christ.  In the same way, you would be wise to look up to those who are followers of Christ and give advice according to the Word of God.  It's best to seek the advice of those who are following the Lord.

Think carefully about who you go to for advice and counsel.  If it’s not a Christian who is close to the heart of God and understanding of the ways & Word of the Lord, then it may not be solid counsel that will hold up under pressure and it may not be advice that will please the Lord.

Confession:

I will seek advice and counsel from those who are followers of the Lord Himself.   I will look to be aware of advice that may be contrary to the Word of God.
