Blameless Children of God
Philippians 2:14-16

  1. Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
  2. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
  3. Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

As we do what we do, whatever we do, without murmuring and disputing we are showing ourselves to be blameless and harmless (or sincere).  The Amplified Bible says that you may "show yourselves to be" where the King James says that you "may be".  We have been made blameless and by living that way we show that we are blameless.  We’re showing that we are blameless children of God.

That’s how we are to shine in the midst of a perverse world.  As we do all things without murmuring and disputing our lives will shine in this way and as it does it’s a testimony to the reality of God in our lives.  Jesus said to let your light shine before men in such a way that they will see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven, (Matt. 5;16).

It’s not for our own glory that we live a blameless life.  It’s for His glory.  Because we all know we can’t live a blameless life on our own.  We’ve all goofed up, made mistakes and sinned.  So we can’t take any credit for living a blameless life.  And thank God if we do sin we have an advocate—Jesus Christ.  And if we confess our sin He’s faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

He also says to hold fast the Word of life.  The Amplified Bible says to hold it out and offer it to all men.  As our lights are shining we need to offer to the world the "Word of life", the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Confession:

I will do all things without murmuring and disputing.  As I do I will show myself as a blameless child of God to the world.  My light will be shining so God will be glorified and I will offer the Word of Life—Jesus Christ—to the world.
