A Child of Light
Ephesians 5:6-8

 

  1. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
  2. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
  3. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

He warns us not to be deceived into thinking it’s O.K. to participate in the sins he just mentioned.  He warns that the wrath of God will come upon those who are rebellious, disobedient and participate in these sins (The margin in my Bible says "unbelief" for disobedience).

He explains how at one time we were walking in darkness, living our lives in such a way that we participated in those things.  But now we are "light in the Lord" and we should walk as children of light.

We don’t live a holy and pure life to try and earn our salvation because we could never do that.  Jesus did that for us.  He lived a holy and pure life and He bought our salvation for us, (Thank You Jesus!).  But now that He has gone through all that for us we need to receive it.  He didn’t die so we could continue in sin.  He died so we could live free from sin!  We don’t live this way to earn our salvation but because of our salvation.

Confession:

I no longer am darkness, but now I am light. I will walk as a child of light.  Thank You Jesus for delivering me from sin.  I receive that deliverance.  I receive the life and nature of God within me and will live according to that new nature!

 

Obedience is a tree of life!
