Focus on the Light
Ephesians 5:10-11

  1. And try to learn [in your experience’ what is pleasing to the Lord;-[let your lives be constant] proofs of what is most acceptable to Him.
  2. Take no part in and have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds and enterprises of darkness, but instead [let your lives be so in contrast as to] expose and reprove and convict them. (Amplified Bible)

Learning what is pleasing to the Lord can be an exciting thing.  We sometimes focus on the negative side of that and how uncomfortable it makes us feel when we displease the Lord but on the other side of that, when we please the Lord He blesses us so much!

He calls the works or deeds of darkness fruitless.  When you do those things that are not of the Lord they are exactly that—fruitless.  There’s no good thing that comes of them.  They don’t accomplish anything good.  That’s why the Lord tells us not to sin—no good comes of it.

When you walk in the light and live a life pleasing to the Lord that light will expose the darkness.  Some people may not like that, others will be drawn to it because they’re looking for a way out of the darkness.  Either way, our job is to be the light and draw people to the True Light.

Confession:

I will learn what pleases the Lord.  I will not walk in darkness.  I will walk in the light knowing that by pleasing the Lord His light is shining through me.  As that happens others will be drawn to the Lord.

Obedience is a tree of life!
