Keeping Your Conscience Clear
1 Peter 3:16-17

  1. Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
  2. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

We’re told here to keep our conscience clear and if someone speaks evil of us or falsely accuses our good lifestyle then they may come to be ashamed.  When we do something wrong and suffer the consequences of it there’s nothing outstanding about that.  We did wrong, we paid for it and we go on.  There’s not any reason for us to get upset about our getting in trouble because we did something wrong.

But when we’re living right, with a clear conscience, and someone falsely accuses us and we continue to live right and keep our conscience clear then our lifestyle will be a witness and testimony of the Lord.  They may come to see the truth and be ashamed of their false accusations.

It’s better for us to do right and suffer for it than for us to suffer for a wrong we do.  We are His representatives and we want to show people the goodness and righteousness of God.

Confession:

I will keep my conscience clear and live my life according to the Word of God.  I receive the strength of the Holy Spirit and follow His leading in al that I do so my life will be pleasing to the Lord.

Obedience is a tree of life!
