Fervent Love
1 Peter 4:8

  1. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
  1. Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins—forgives and disregards the offenses of others. The Amplified Bible

Above all things we’re told to have love.  And not just love but fervent love, intense and unfailing love for one another.  We should be cultivating this fervent type of love in our churches.  We should be promoting this kind of love in the body of Christ for ‘love covers a multitude of sins.’

Love forgives and disregards the offenses of others.  Think about what that means, "love forgives and disregards the offenses of others."  This is the kind of love Jesus had when He was here.  Some people followed Him around and never left Him alone.  Others criticized Him and tried to do whatever they could to get Him to fail.  Some were sneaky behind His back and others argued with Him face to face.  In the end He suffered horribly but He forgave and disregarded their offenses.  He prayed for them and asked God to forgive them because they didn’t know what they were doing.

This kind of love is truly a sign of knowing God, understanding people and is a measurement of our own spiritual maturity and growth.

Confession:

Above all things I will have intense and unfailing love for my brothers and sisters in Christ.  I will forgive and disregard the offenses of others.  I will pray for them and remember how Jesus loved people while He was here.

Obedience is a tree of life!
