Sincere Milk
1 Peter 2:2-3

  1. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
  2. If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

The Word of God is what causes us to grow spiritually.  And it’s the sincere milk of the Word that we should thirst for just as newborn babes thirst for milk.  "Sincere" means pure, unadulterated, undeceitful.

A person’s incorrect teaching of the Word will not cause true spiritual growth.  Only the pure, truth of the Word will cause growth.  We should desire and thirst for a true understanding of the Word of God.  As we do, we will grow spiritually.

Many times we see people hold back from teaching truths because they think they "can’t handle" them yet.  But the truth of the Word is the only thing that causes growth!  What we offer instead is a watered down opinion of the Word that does more harm than good.

Let’s desire and receive the sincere, pure, truth of the Word of God and not settle for a watered down version!

 

Confession:

I desire the pure truth of the Word of God so I will grow spiritually.  I will offer to others the truth of the Word as well, in love, and not water it down with my own opinions.

Obedience is a tree of life!
