13. Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14. Whereas ye know now what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

Are we willing to include the Lord in the plans of our life?  And even more than including Him in our plans how about submitting to His plans?  We shouldn’t just make plans to go on about our business without seeking the Lord’s will in regards to our life.  Where we live, what job we have, and how we do business should all be areas of our life that we submit to God’s will.

We could make plans saying, "Well, we’re going to move to such and such city and start a business and we’ll find a good church and raise a family there.  God, please help us find a good home and bless our plan."  We may think because we ask God to help us and because we’re going to find a church that we’re in His will.  We might be building the correct house so to speak but is it on the wrong foundation?

What we should do is say, "Lord, what plan do You have for my life?  Where do You want me to live, what job do You want me to have, what church do You want me to go to?"  When it comes to God’s will for our lives, we shouldn’t assume anything but we should seek Him for the proper foundation of His will to build on.

Confession:

I will submit myself to God’s will for my life.  I put aside my plans and seek God’s plans.  Lord, show me Your will for my life!
