10. [As] an example of suffering and ill-treatment together with patience, brethren, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord—as His messengers.
11. You know how we call those blessed (happy) who were steadfast—who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job; and you have seen the Lord’s [purpose and how He richly blessed him in the] end, in as much as the Lord is full of pity and compassion and tenderness and mercy. The Amplified Bible

We can learn about patience and endurance from the prophets of old.  They are an example for us of those who didn’t give up their faith in God and perseverance during difficult times.  He gives an example of Job and how Job came through his troubles.  He was richly blessed by the Lord.  He patiently kept his faith in God during all he went through and it paid off.

Hebrews 11 gives us several examples of those whose faith brought them through difficult times.  When we keep our faith and trust in God during difficult times that’s called patience.  This is the kind of patience that will refuse to give in or waver when it seems that circumstances around us (and even the opinions of those we know and love), are contrary to the faith that we hold.

When anything or anyone comes to oppose the Word of God in your life, hold fast to that Word.  Not to say you don’t remain teachable to the truths of His Word, you want to make sure what you’re holding on to is truth, but when you know in your heart it is then stand strong in your faith!

Confession:

I will, as the prophets of old did, hold fast to my faith in God.  I will remain patient and endure during difficult times.  I will remain strong in my faith in Him and the truths of His Word no matter what!
