October 25
He tells us here what to do if anyone is afflicted, merry or sick. If you’re going through a difficult time, pray. If you’re cheerful, sing praise to God. And remember that If we’re going through a tough time and pray about it, we can become cheerful even while we’re still going through it. We don’t have to wait until the problem is over to become cheerful! Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to God at midnight while in prison. When they started praising Him they were still in prison (Acts 16:25). But if you are afflicted and you are not cheerful then by all means pray and get the situation resolved with the Lord, then you can praise Him cheerfully. He also says if you’re sick to call for the elders of the church. You call for the elders to come to you and they are to pray and anoint with oil in the Name of the Lord and the prayer of faith will save the sick and any sins will be forgiven. The calling for, anointing and praying alone will not do it. Our efforts must be accompanied with the prayer of faith because that is what will save the sick and raise him up. That word save, (sozo) means to save, deliver and protect. It’s also translated as "heal" and "make whole." As we do things according to how the Bible says to do them we’ll get much better results!
Confession: I will do what the Bible says to do here and if I am going through a difficult time I’ll pray. When I’m cheerful I’ll sing to the Lord. If I’m sick I realize I can call for the elders of the church and they can pray and anoint me with oil in the Name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will heal me and raise me up!
Obedience is a tree of life!
