14. As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

Before we came to know the Lord there were things we did and were involved in that were contrary to the Word of God.  Our "former lusts" were things that we did when we were ignorant of the message of the Gospel and God’s Word.

Now that we know the Lord and have His life and nature within us, we’re told not to live according to those former lusts anymore.  When we did those things we were in ignorance.  Now that we’re not ignorant of spiritual things and the Word of God we’re not to fashion ourselves according to those lusts anymore.

We are now children of obedience, not of disobedience.  We’re to live as those who are in obedience to the Word and ways of God.   And we can successfully do so because Jesus conquered sin for us. Because of Him, we do not have to be controlled and bound by former sin and lusts!

Confession:

I am a child of obedience!  I will not conform myself to the former lusts I had while I was in ignorance of the Word of God and His commands.  I am free from the bondage of them!
