15. But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16. Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

God wouldn’t tell us to be holy in all of our conversation (or conduct), if we were not able to do so.  He says the One who called us is holy so we should be holy also.  We know we can’t be holy apart from Jesus Christ.  No one but Him ever lived a pure, spotless life pleasing to God all the time.

But we’ve now been cleansed by the blood of Jesus.  By faith in the shedding of His blood and His death and resurrection, we are justified (Romans 3:28, 5:1,9).  We are justified by believing in Jesus and by believing that He was raised for our justification (Romans 10:9,10).

Now that we’ve been cleansed and justified by His blood we have the ability to live a holy life because we have His life and nature within us.  Thank God there is forgiveness available to us if we need it, but we have His life within us and we can live holy because His Word says we can!

Confession:

I will be holy in all of my conduct.  I can do so because the Word of God says I can.  As He is holy, I will be holy because He has enabled me to do so by giving me His life.
