22. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

The command here is that we love one another with a pure heart fervently.  Our love for each other is to be passionate, sincere and pure.  Jesus said all will know we are His disciples by our love one for another (John 13:35).

We are able to do this as we have purified our souls in obeying the truth.  We can have a sincere love for each other because our souls are purified. We will grow and mature as we renew our minds with the Word of God and as we do our thoughts, intents and motivations will come in line with God’s Word.  They will be pure and sincere.

The Word of God is not only the seed by which our spirits are born-again, it is also by the Word of God that our souls are purified meaning our mind, emotions and will.  And when our spirits are born-again and our souls are purified, we can love one another with a pure heart fervently.

Confession:

I will love my fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord with a sincere and pure love.  I can do so as I, in obedience to the truth, purify my soul with the Word of God.
