Ask in Faith
James 1:5-8

  1. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
  2. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
  3. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
  4. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

He just mentioned counting it all joy when we are going through difficult times and to continue in patience.  Now he says if you lack wisdom to ask of God who will generously give it.  If you are faced with a difficult circumstance and you don’t know how to deal with it, God will give you wisdom if you ask Him.

But you must ask and you must ask in faith! What does it mean to ask in faith?  He says here what it doesn’t mean and that is to ask with wavering or doubting.  If we waver or doubt when we ask then we won’t receive anything from Him.

We must come to God in faith.  When we pray and ask Him for something we must ask in faith without doubting.  To do that we must realize that He loves us and wants to meet our need and give us what we need to come through the difficult time we’re going through.  We must know that He is a loving God who provides us with answers during times of trouble and He’s not the one bringing trouble upon us.

Confession:

If I lack wisdom I will ask of God who generously gives it.  But I will ask in faith, without doubting, knowing that He is the God of answers and provision during my time of need!

Obedience is a tree of life!
