September 12 Hebrews 10:25
He tells us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together. He means the gathering together of believers. We’re not to forsake that. We’re not to neglect that. "Forsake" here means not to leave behind or desert (Strong’s Concordance). We can get in a rut of going to church where we feel like we’ve ‘done our duty’ for the week because we’ve gone to church. If you’re just going to church out of a sense of obligation or duty then you’re missing the point! He goes on to say, "but exhorting one another." If we’re to exhort one another than there’s more to us gathering together once a week just to hear the preacher speak and then go home. The early church continued ‘daily with one accord in the temple’ and eating together ‘from house to house (Acts 3:46).' We’re to get together with other believers and exhort one another. If anything this is something we need to do more and more as time goes on, not less!
Confession: I will not forsake gathering together with other believers. I will gather with other believers so we may exhort one another.
