September 14 Hebrews 10:35-36
He just got done telling them to remember the difficult times the Lord has brought them through in the past and now he says ‘therefore’ not to cast away their confidence. Our confidence has a reward in itself. Our faith and trust in God carries a reward and that is to receive the promise. When times are difficult or when situations look impossible, when things don’t seem to be going smoothly or when it doesn’t seem like we have what’s been promised to us, we must continue to trust and have confidence in Him. We can’t cast away our confidence. We’re told not to give up! The Amplified Bible says for verse 36, "For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised." Our patience enables us to carry out the will of God in a particular situation and as a result we will receive the promise. Patience isn’t just for us to ‘grin and bear it.’ It’s the strength and frame of mind we have so we may handle a situation properly according to God’s will and not get frustrated, overwhelmed or anxious or just give up.
Confession: I will not cast away my confidence. I will continue to trust the Lord and carry out His will in all the situations I’m faced with. As a result I am rewarded with what He’s promised!
Obedience is a tree of life!
