Make Straight Paths
Hebrews 12:12-13

  1. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
  2. And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

Prior to these verses, he’s talking about being chastened by the Lord.  He says how God corrects us for our own good so we may be ‘partakers of His holiness (verse 10).'  God desires to fellowship with us and if we will receive His instruction and correction we will be able to fellowship with Him.  We will be able to enter into His presence!

Because of that we’re told to lift up or strengthen the hands which hang down and the knees that are weak.  And rather than putting up with or accepting what is lame or out of joint, let it be healed!  If we have a leg or foot that is out of joint it will take us off in the wrong direction, but if it’s healed then we’ll go where we’re aiming to go.

Don’t adjust your path to account for the unhealed wound or for the sin that takes you off course but let it rather be healed so you can walk straight!  Whatever gets us off course, whether it’s sin or if it’s a weight, an unhealed wound, we’re told to let it be healed.  We’re to let it be straightened so we can walk and fellowship with the Lord.

Confession:

I will lift up and strengthen my hands which hang down and feeble knees.  I’ll allow myself to be healed.  I’ll not allow any weight or any sin to lead me off the path I’m walking with the Lord.  I realize the Lord desires to fellowship with me and doesn’t want anything to cause me to walk astray.

Obedience is a tree of life!
