September 19 Hebrews 12:15
We’re to look diligently to see that no one falls from God’s grace. That no root of bitterness springs up. Bitterness, it says here, causes many to be defiled. We need to be diligent to guard against anything that would cause us to fail the grace of God. He says to watch that no root of bitterness springs up and troubles us. Many times the behavior we see or what we ourselves do on the outside is caused from the wrong motivation on the inside. A root is something you can’t see on the surface. Have you ever pulled a weed out of the garden but didn’t pull out the roots? That weed will spring back up before long. We need to do more than just try and make our lives look good on the outside. We need to pull out the roots of those things that trouble us.
Confession: I will look diligently to see that none fall from God’s grace. That no root of bitterness spring up. I will not just attempt to look good outwardly but I will pull out the bitter roots in my life by the grace of God.
Obedience is a tree of life!
